Wetland Delineation Training with Richard Chinn
SWFAEP presented a 5-day wetland delineation training course with Senior Professional Wetland Scientist, Richard Chinn from April 5 - April 9, 2021. Mr. Chinn has personally provided this training to over 7,000 wetland professionals. Mr. Chinn’s experience and knowledge was showcased by his ability to break down complicated scientific concepts in digestible bites in an engaging way.
The first two days of training were conveniently provided in the comfort of your home through a lecture series. The remaining 3 days reinforced the information learned in the field at Wild Turkey Strand Preserve, the third-largest Conservation 20/20 preserve in Lee County located on 11901 Rod and Gun Club Road, Fort Myers. Participants of this training utilized wetland delineation skills in the preserve’s wet prairies, putting their soils skills to the test.
A total of 3.8 CEU’s and 2.5 pre-approved wetland specific training hours were available to participants with a PWS certification. Those who received the training felt more confident applying wetland delineation skills, a priceless skill since the State of Florida assumed the 404 program for permits proposing dredge or fill activities within state assumed waters.
